How do I search and apply for jobs?
Visit the Job Search page on our careers site. Use the filters to narrow by interest group, contract type, employment type, or faculty/directorate. Select the role you’re interested in and confirm when prompted. At the top of the job page, click Apply to start your application.
If you’re applying for the first time, you’ll need to create an account. This allows you to save your details, return to an incomplete application, and track your progress.
How do I set up job alerts?
Log in to your candidate profile and go to the Job Alerts section on the Overview tab. Click Add, set your search criteria, and choose how often you want to be notified (daily, weekly, or monthly). Tick Notify me by e-mail to receive alerts when a matching vacancy is posted.
What if I have problems viewing the pages on the DMU jobs website?
Our site works with the latest versions of major browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. If you experience issues:
- Refresh the page
- Clear your browser cache
- Try a different browser or device
Ensure pop-up blockers are turned off and JavaScript is enabled. If problems persist, contact servicedesk@dmu.ac.uk - you will need to provide details of the error message. Please also ensure your subject message is “Job Application Support”
Can I save my application and come back to it?
Yes. You can save your application at any stage and return to it via your candidate homepage. Please note: the system will time out after 30 minutes of inactivity, so save regularly to avoid losing information.
How do I know the deadline for submitting my application?
The closing date is shown on the job listing and the job posting. All applications must be submitted by midnight on the closing date.
How long after a post closes will I hear back?
Recruiting managers aim to shortlist within two weeks of the closing date, using the criteria outlined in the person specification.
How do I contact DMU if I have any further queries?

What pre-employment checks will I undergo if I was successful in obtaining a position with DMU?
Eligibility to work in the UK
All offers are subject to proof of your legal right to live and work in the UK.
References
We require two satisfactory written references covering at least the last two years. One must be from your current or most recent employer. (For professorial roles, up to five references may be requested.)
DBS (if required)
Some roles require a criminal record check. The level of check depends on the role and will be specified in your conditional offer.
Medical clearance
All new starters complete an occupational health questionnaire to ensure any necessary adjustments are in place for a safe working environment.
Fit and Proper Persons check (for senior roles)
This applies to University Leadership Board roles and the Board of Governors. It identifies any conflicts of interest and ensures compliance with the Office for Students’ governance principles. Checks include Companies House records and other relevant assessments.
