Main duties and responsibilities
De Montfort University (DMU) is recruiting for a key role within our Procurement team.
As our Category Manager for Digital & ICT, you will play a pivotal role in delivering value for money, driving efficiencies and ensuring compliance across all ICT procurement activity. This is a strategically important post, central to major programmes that support DMU’s digital transformation agenda and the implementation of new and emerging technologies across the institution.
This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with experience of the ICT category who is ready to step up and influence category strategy in a complex, fast-moving environment.
In this role, you will:
- Lead, develop and implement procurement strategies across high-value Digital and ICT categories.
- Manage end-to-end sourcing projects in accordance with public sector regulations.
- Build strong relationships across faculties, directorates and external suppliers to deliver high-quality contracting outcomes.
- Provide expert advice on procurement, commercial risk, contract management and supplier performance.
- Contribute directly to the university’s digital transformation programme and the delivery of innovative IT solutions.
To be successful, you will be an experienced procurement professional with:
- Strong knowledge of the ICT category
- A track record of managing procurements in large, complex or public sector environments
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and analytical skills
- The ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality outcomes
- MCIPS membership or a relevant degree (or working towards)
