At De Montfort University, we're committed to delivering an outstanding student experience, underpinned by high-quality data, effective systems and excellent professional services. We are looking for an experienced and collaborative leader to join us as Deputy Head of Student Records and support the delivery and continuous improvement of student records management across the University.

The Role

Working closely with the Head of Student Records, you will provide operational leadership for the Student Records team, ensuring the effective delivery of student and curriculum data services while driving continuous improvement across systems, processes and ways of working. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a period of transformation, supporting institutional priorities through high-quality data, excellent stakeholder engagement and service innovation.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will oversee the delivery of student and curriculum records services, ensuring high standards of accuracy, compliance and customer service. You will provide leadership across the student records function, driving consistency, strengthening data assurance and supporting the development of staff capability, while fostering a culture of service excellence and ensuring teams are well equipped to respond to evolving regulatory requirements and changes across the higher education sector.

Drawing on your expertise in student data and processes, you will champion effective records management and work collaboratively with senior colleagues and partner institutions to provide expert advice and guidance on student data matters, supporting the delivery of consistent, high-quality services.

About You

We're looking for an experienced leader with experience of managing teams, improving services and delivering process improvements within a complex organisation.

You will be skilled at building effective relationships, working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and using data analysis and reporting to support service improvements.

You will bring:

  • Experience of leading and developing teams in a customer-focused environment.
  • A track record of implementing process improvements and managing change.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience of interpreting and reporting on data.
  • The ability to build productive partnerships across a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with student records systems and processes, ideally within higher or further education.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.

Join us and play a key role in ensuring the University continues to deliver accurate, effective and student-focused records services that support institutional success and meet the needs of students, staff and partner institutions.
