Job Description: 

Main duties and responsibilities

Faculty 

You will join the faculty of Health and Life Sciences (HLS) that is home to four specialist schools - Allied Health Sciences, Applied Social Sciences, The Leicester School of Nursing and Midwifery, and The Leicester School of Pharmacy. The faculty educates and develops professionals who make a significant difference to lives, health, wellbeing, communities and society, and has dedicated facilities that are designed to replicate current practice and feature industry-standard equipment, enabling staff and students to undertake life-changing projects to improve health and social care.

 

Role

The Faculty Health & Safety Co-ordinator will work with the Director of Faculty Operations, Faculty Operations Manager, Facilities & Health & Safety Manager, Technical Services Managers and Safety Co-ordinators to provide specialist support to the faculty to ensure full compliance with all University Health & Safety policies and procedures and to ensure that all Health & Safety organisation and support for Faculty activities and events is undertaken.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

Provide Health & Safety support to the faculty, this will include:

  • Supporting the Director of Faculty Operations, Faculty Operations Manager, Facilities & Health & Safety, Technical Services Managers and Safety Co-ordinators in all matters of Health & Safety (H&S) regulatory compliance.
  • Proactively advising and guiding staff and students on health, safety and wellbeing matters.
  • Coordinating all H&S documentation, including producing risk assessments and supporting staff in the completion of forms, reports and risk assessments.
  • Organising workstation assessments and key monitoring mechanisms including liaising with relevant line managers, the DMU Health & Safety department and external suppliers.
  • Coordinating and maintaining all risk assessment records, monitoring pad returns and other formal documentation plus analysing records and producing reports for management consideration.
  • Acting as servicing officer for the Faculty Health & Safety Committee, and any sub-committees including the chasing of actions and preparation of analytical reports and other papers.
  • Preparing documentation, leaflets etc. for circulation to colleagues in relation to H&S issues; ensuring that all H&S noticeboards are up to date.
  • Training in relevant aspects of health & safety and, where appropriate and permissible, to impart knowledge/training to others.
