Job Description: 

Main duties and responsibilities

The Faculty of Technology, Arts and Culture wishes to appoint a permanent Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security.

The School of Computer Science and Informatics is based within the Faculty of Technology, Arts and Culture. It offers a wide range of courses to undergraduates, postgraduates and apprentices in line with emergent demand and the nature of these fast-moving, competitive disciplines. We have a solid track record of ground-breaking research and in REF2021, 2/3 of the School’s research output was considered to be world leading or internationally excellent. Computer Science at DMU is ranked 201-300 worldwide in the Shanghai Ranking and 301-400 in the THES World University Rankings due to the international nature and high relevance of its research. Alongside the university as a whole, we have huge ambitions for the future in terms of our offering to students and the quality and scale of our research.

The Cyber Technology Innovations cluster (formerly known as Cyber Technology Institute) of the Digital Future Institute at DMU has the highest recognition from the UK National Cyber Security Centre (part of GCHQ): Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education (Gold) since 2022 – one of only thirteen institutes in the UK. The MSc in Cyber Security is also fully accredited by the NCSC.

Applicants will be expected to teach modules on courses in the Cyber Security area. Knowledge and experience in malware analysis, penetration testing, digital forensics, AI for cyber security and/or security of AI are desirable. You will be expected to lead, develop and redesign modules to update as required. A research and publication profile will be desirable.
