Main duties and responsibilities
The Role: This project funded via Innovate UK’s Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme enables Utility Trade Limited to bring in new skills and academic thinking to deliver a strategic innovation project. The KTP associate leads the project with support from the DMU and business teams and the Software Developer KTP Associate. Applying academic knowledge to a real-world challenge, a KTP delivers impact. There is a development budget allowing you to further enhance your personal and professional development. Based at Utility Trade Limited, Market Harborough https://utilitytrade.com/ with occasional visits to DMU the associate will lead the design, development and embedding of a robust data architecture, predictive analytics pipeline with enhanced reporting capability allowing the company to offer customers enhanced reporting and billing services, improved forecasting and data modelling capabilities through bespoke AI-based software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit and profile data from CRM, billing systems and supplier APIs; producing data‑quality, risk reports to design secure, scalable ingestion and storage architecture
- Author and automate ETL/ELT scripts; validate pilot data‑flows
- Select and tune forecasting algorithms (time‑series, ensemble / deep‑learning)
- Deploy baseline models and iterate for accuracy with external factors (e.g., weather, macro‑indicators)
- Prototype and iterate dashboards; implement automated alerts and anomaly‑detection
- Run workshops for staff; create technical manuals, data dictionaries and SOPs to embed capability
- Contribute to meetings and scholarly dissemination linked to the KTP
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated person with a passion for data modelling and data design, to join this KTP. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of research and development of a next generation AI-enabled CRM system. The aim of this year long project is to enable Utility Trade to deliver real‑time energy insights and AI‑driven forecasts to their clients and combine advanced technical delivery with knowledge transfer to upskill the company.
