Directorate
The Registry Services Directorate comprises responsibility for the administration of the student journey from registration to graduation, and consists of the following functions: registration, quality assurance, UKVI compliance, timetabling, student records, examinations, awards, and graduations, student finance, and student casework.
Role
As Exams and Awards Manager, you will:
- Lead the operational planning and implementation of all university examinations, ensuring timely timetabling, high standards of delivery, and appropriate support for students with individual needs.
- Manage the planning, organisation, and smooth running of graduation ceremonies, working closely with internal colleagues and external suppliers.
- Oversee the production and distribution of certificates, ensuring accuracy, security, and timely delivery.
- Take responsibility for budgets, supplier negotiations, and related stakeholder relationships.
- Provide strong leadership to the Exams and Awards team, embedding a culture of service excellence, efficiency, strong digital skills, and continuous improvement.
- Evaluate and improve processes, including harnessing digital solutions to make services more effective and user-friendly.
- Be an advocate for change and communicate a vision for the future.
- Lead a diverse team, fostering a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.
Ideal candidate
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent).
- Significant leadership experience within higher education, with a track record of managing staff, budgets, and service delivery.
- Proven experience in developing and improving policies and processes.
- Strong skills in communication, negotiation, and relationship-building across diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to deliver under pressure.
- A high degree of digital literacy and the motivation to harness digital tools to streamline and enhance service delivery.
- Flexibility and resilience, with a commitment to continuous personal and professional development.
