Job Description: 

Main duties and responsibilities

De Montfort University is seeking to recruit an experienced researcher to the Textile Engineering and Materials (TEAM) Research Group at the School of Design Innovation. TEAM focus on the research and development of innovative technologies and environmentally friendly textile processes for sustainable textile materials with improved performance. The ideal candidate will work on a EPSRC funded project for the development of an innovative PFAS (per and polyfluoroalkyl substances)-free amphiphobic coatings on textiles for self-cleaning and contamination prevention functionality. Please note that this is a 2 year fixed term contract. 

 

The ideal candidate will have experience in undertaking research at a postgraduate level in Textile Technology, Chemistry, Materials or Polymer Sciences or other relevant subjects. A PhD in a relevant subject area is desirable. You will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of textile materials, polymer coating and evaluation methods. Knowledge of textile functional finishing or nanotechnology for surface coating would be desirable. Excellent report-writing and presentation skills are essential. The work is part of a collaborative project. The ability to work with other people, sharing tasks as required, is essential.
