De Montfort University (DMU) is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Digital Textile Print Technician to join our Technical Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to support students, academics and researchers within our creative and specialist textile facilities.
Working within our textile workshops, you will play a key role in the operation and maintenance of our digital textile printing facilities, supporting teaching, learning and project work across a range of programmes. You will provide expert advice, practical demonstrations and technical support to students and staff, ensuring equipment is used safely, effectively and to the highest standards.
The Role
- Operating and maintaining large-format Mimaki digital textile printers and associated software.
- Supporting students and academic staff with fabric printing, textile production and technical processes.
- Demonstrating specialist equipment, techniques and workflows.
- Managing print bookings and maintaining accurate production records.
- Assisting with workshop preparation, equipment maintenance and stock control.
- Promoting safe working practices and supporting Health & Safety compliance, including risk assessments and COSHH procedures.
- Contributing to open days, outreach events and wider technical services activities.
Ideal Candidate
- An HND, relevant technical qualification, or substantial practical experience in a related field.
- Experience operating large-format Mimaki textile printers and associated digital print software.
- Excellent technical skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Experience working within a workshop, studio or technical environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information to a range of users.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of service, safety and customer support.
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience of traditional textile dyeing and printing techniques.
- Experience working within a Further or Higher Education environment.
- Experience developing safe working procedures and technical protocols.
