Directorate

The Widening Participation Team (as part of a wider Schools Engagement Team) sits within the Future Students Division under the Marketing and Communications Directorate. The team's primary remit is to form positive relationships with local schools, engage face to face with young learners and potential students, promote the opportunities higher education provides and more specifically the benefits of choosing De Montfort University as the university of choice.

Role

DMU is excited to advertise for a Widening Participation Officer. Reporting to the Widening Participation lead, you will develop and deliver a pre-16 outreach activity plan with a long-term focus on increasing student numbers as well as widening access, core elements our Empowering university strategy, a strategy to empower students, staff and our partners to create a fairer society. You will work in collaboration with members of the wider Marketing and Communication Directorate and other DMU stakeholders as appropriate.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience of developing and delivering widening participation activities, within a higher education setting, will be able to demonstrate clear strategic and operational thinking, with a long-term focus on increasing student numbers as well as widening access to higher education.

The working structure will be hybrid with a blend of in school, on campus and from home.

 A satisfactory enhanced DBS check is essential for this role.
